我放緩腳步，佇候在金沙煩囂走廊邊。望過去，對臺鋪滿國際影展紅毯，正私映一齣文藝好戲。恰逢導演也在場，筆挺俊朗，面帶微笑。他自稱姓趙，係緬甸華裔。在南洋遇上趙姓華人，我總一廂情願地臆想他們血緣可上溯宋代宗室。雖說南宋末年皇族逃難或有流亡安南緬甸暹羅諸邦，但世間已過千年，頗難考證。厓門海戰後趙氏多數留居廣東，只可惜不少後人在文革浩劫中丟了族譜。依「禮失而求諸野」一說，海外遺珠確有可能。法國畫家趙無極，香港藏家趙泰來皆自居宋王後裔，姑且信之。

　　戲中講述緬國華裔非法移民泰國打工的血淚史，想必定有趙導親歷或耳聞摻雜。片名取作《再見瓦城》，可全劇至終絲毫未提「瓦城」，實在蹊蹺。瓦城乃緬甸古都，古往今來皆屬重鎮，地位僅次仰光。三百多年前，南明永曆帝避清逃至此地，獲緬王收留。不巧緬王之弟弒兄篡位，平西王吳三桂又追兵臨城。新緬王無奈獻出永曆歸降。此時京城韃子皇帝染天花駕崩，幼主繼位是為康熙元年。吳氏擄永曆回昆明後，為免夜長夢多，旋即處死。南明就此劇終。大批遺老遺少隨王赴緬，但終究事與願違，只好留下世居緬北，由清廷任命楊姓土司管治。兩百年後，大清式微，被迫簽約將此邊陲交由大英帝國種植鴉片，從此毒禍蔓延，氾濫至今。

　　如今緬軍政府可不管你趙錢孫李祖宗十八代，在北部撣邦就算是土生華人也拿不到公民身份。有志青年若不想靠販毒發家，最好考慮南下鄰邦泰國闖蕩一番。拿不到護照，當然得偷渡，合情合理。趙導便來自撣邦樞紐臘戌，自幼勤學，高中時舉闔家之力半年籌得數千美金，孝敬層層官員，換來緬國護照，終可留學臺灣。他後來師從名導侯氏，近幾年獨立製片書寫緬華悲歌，送展歐美獲獎一二，倍受人文份子關注。他用一口流利的臺灣國語對我說，這部商業片只是談情說愛而已。

　　當然並非如此。影片故事很簡單，劇中主角蓮青從臘戌偷渡曼谷打工，千辛萬苦甚至賣身籌款，只為走險換一紙泰人身份。前半段紀實平鋪乏味日常，接下來不慌不忙托出戲肉。蓮青一心盤算著拿泰國護照後或遠走臺灣新生。可男友阿國只想在工廠賣力攢夠錢回老家做小生意。「去臺灣還不是打工……」他的疑惑簡單直接，卻是一道深奧的人生哲學題。

　　我告訴趙導，自己曾籌謀要浪跡花旗。登上新大陸後，我自立中產，娶妻生子。小女彈古箏，犬子揮書法。沒過幾年我投資失利妻離子散，接著潦倒酗酒，每月被前妻追討贍養費，每年僅寒暑得見兒女。他們完全不會華文，只懂嗑藥飆車不務正業。去年我看完賈導近作《山河故人》，頓感心有戚戚焉。那部片不過是講社會變遷，家庭悲歡，和異鄉情結。後半段主角已移民澳洲，全程均以英語對白。而《再見瓦城》片中主角皆是華人，交流自然會用通行緬北的西南官話。趙導雖已入籍臺灣，但應該還記得怎麽說家鄉話吧。我接著講，其實我也是從小聽講西南官話長大的。趙導笑了笑，並不作答。

　　滿清貴族鈕祜祿氏後人豆導前年有一部作品《軍中樂園》談金門軍妓史。其中一幕侍應生阿嬌因故被操山東口音的國軍士官長老張激怒，她無情地用閩南口音還了一句：「你們這些外省仔，一輩子都回不去啦！」其實我們需要回去嗎？我正想問趙導，可不知何時他已不見蹤影，或許他根本就不曾來過。我環顧金沙華麗四圍，彷彿大夢一場將醒，心裡思量：山河故人空念遠，何不重整衣冠，踏步塵世再向前……

　　今年城中書展繼續不負眾望地了無新意，惟有最末一場講座令我印象深刻。嘉賓是來自台灣的作家楊照先生，記得他很反功利地說，要是學十多年中文，還是讀不懂《論語》、《紅樓》，那學來有甚麼意義呢。臺下一片掌聲，席間幾名中小學生一臉茫然。

　　坡國華族的母語問題，向來難辦。國父及其子僅能從政治考慮推行所謂『華文』、『華語』，文化層面只好支吾以對。閩、粵、客三語有史以來便是不爭的口語主流。近年大量北中國新移民加入混戰，情況更糟。至於文字，不談也罷，畢竟英文纔是事實上的國文嘛。只能講，獅城華文用武之地遠不如大馬華埠。

　　好歹烏雲都帶金邊，世事皆有美好一面。譬如說新謠。當年膾炙人口的本地華語流行音樂，大多用詞灑脫漂亮。不似當下太過糜爛媚俗。近日一眾老輩歌手有意懷舊，先假書城中庭公演新謠，吸引上千市民捧場。當巫啟賢出場時，我身後一名中年男子高興地對他約摸七八歲的兒子講，『Hi son, this is your father’s favourite singer. I went to all of his concerts』。之後他用華語跟唱了每一首演出曲目。我心裡覺得，這樣挺好的。

　　老李說他可不保證這點。國父李光耀先生今年新書《天下一夫之見》（One Man’s View of The World）洋洋灑灑有三百多頁。我搶著把講坡國的章節細讀了幾遍。雖無驚人見解，仍不乏智慧供人後想。

　　『美、中、英、澳這些國家，再過個一百年應該都還在。可新加坡呢，建國也就近幾十年的事而已。老一輩坡人都是白手起家。我掌國事之時，一直盡力打牢根基。後繼吳作棟所做亦是。現在李顯龍團隊治下，至少未來十到十五年可家國太平。之後的路該如何走，就由年輕一代坡人選擇了。不管怎麼選，我可以肯定一點，一旦選出個蠢政府，我們祇好完蛋。家國不復。』

　　李老前輩還明言不贊同兩黨政治。他說這會嚇走有真才實幹的賢能。繼而庸才當道，政府難有作為。獅城彈丸之地，以菁英立國，成就今日確實靠任人唯賢。平庸將是致命傷。不可取。

　　在我看來，社稷民生相關之事即是政治。要是扯上政黨或政客，重心就偏了。棄菁英而走平民路線，應該不太適合坡國。

　　廣州本來五穀歉收，幸好有五羊執六穗而來。之後風調雨順，賑災外還有餘糧。城郊沙河鎮人便取白雲山九龍泉水，泡製米漿。蒸熟片薄切條，即是河粉。爽軟韌筋，乾濕炒煮皆宜。若下豬油，加韭王芽菜添牛肉配醬，猛火快炒，勻而不散，油而不膩，便成我最愛吃的乾炒牛河。無需鮑參翅肚，食材易得，火候同「鑊氣」難求。香江美食才子蔡瀾先生說，炒完裝盤鍋底沒餘油纔稱得上「乾」。我相信這該是所有粵菜師傅的基本功。

　　沒有仙羊神泉相助的閩南人也蒸米片薄，稱之粿條。潮州人吸兩地精華，炒出的粿條與廣府乾炒牛河有異曲同工之妙。先輩移居星馬仍常念舊好，炒粿條在異域重生並發揚光大。檳城吉隆坡炒法各有特色，星洲鮮蛤炒粿條也自成一家。取雞蛋，下豬油，添芽菜，配辣醬，撒鮮蛤，旺火猛鏟，一氣呵成。辛甜相彰，鮮韌爽口。

　　中餐主食不外粥麵粉飯。只要下功夫鑽研花樣，一樣讓人回味難忘。

　　朋友在花旗國攻讀博士，某論作略關中醫。他便順手拿了風油精和清涼油，送洋同學親嚐百草。兩件寶物功效神奇無需贅述，華裔社群居家必備可見一斑。但憑甚麼說他們就是根正苗紅中藥呢？

　　一九三五年，德國化學家Wilhelm Hauffmann研發了風油精，交由貿易公司J Lea & Co以鷹標行銷。該品牌後來被新加坡陳姓華商的慕倫公司（Borden Company Pte Ltd）所收購。六十年代鷹標在越南大賣，風油精被視為香水，人稱「綠油精」，乃餽贈佳品。更是由於越戰緣故，鷹標逐步聞名世界。

　　原裝正品當然由星洲出產，全稱「鷹標德國風油精」（Eagle Brand Medicated Oil），詳情可上官網www.bordeneagle.com.sg查詢。鷹標於港澳星馬各藥房出售時常混排各大跌打藥油之間，被誤認為中成藥不足為奇。在美國風油精雖是合法藥品，但藥管局（US Food & Drug Administration）其實對其頗有微辭（http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/cms_ia/importalert_176.html）。

　　至於連女神卡卡（Lady Gaga）都青睞隨身的清涼油，也大有來頭。此物洋人或稱「虎油」（Tiger Oil），這名號乃是南洋老牌虎標萬金油（Tiger Balm，詳見官網www.tigerbalm.com）簡稱，既無「虎」，亦非「油」。萬金油纔是貨真價實中醫菁華，據稱漢方宮庭古藥，卻是由緬甸華商胡文虎揚名。他與弟胡文豹在仰光研製萬金油，於星港穗開設永安堂行銷天下。只是後來廣州永安堂被中共充公，他本人亦背上「漢奸」罪名，萬金油大名也就絕跡中國大陸多年。
